Most challenges facing the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem also impact the communities living within the Bay watershed. Bay communities interact with the environment constantly and these interactions impact quality of life issues including, access to clean drinking water, clean air to breathe, safe food to eat, and the ability to recreate in and near local waterways. Laws that protect the Chesapeake Bay also directly improve public health.
