CLA Hires Staff Attorney
Chesapeake Legal Alliance (CLA) is pleased to announce that Matt Henjum joined CLA as its first Staff Attorney this week. Matt will be working directly with our network of volunteer attorneys and Bay watershed communities in securing pro bono legal assistance for CLA referred matters.
Prior to joining CLA, Matt spent four and a half years as a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division, having joined DOJ through the Attorney General’s Honors Program. While at DOJ, Matt represented federal agencies in both district and appellate court civil litigation under a variety of environmental statutes, including the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, and CERCLA. Matt earned a B.A. in history from Duke University in 2003 and a J.D. with a certificate of specialization in environmental law from the University of California-Berkeley School of Law in 2009.
