Litigation
Litigation is a powerful tool that can be used to ensure polluters are required to follow existing environmental laws. Litigation is the process of resolving disputes by filing or answering a complaint in the public court system, whether local, state, or federal. Litigation can take months or years to resolve an issue and is one of several legal tools that can be used to address environmental issues in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. CLA can help you navigate through a court case, whether you would like to bring an action or have been sued. CLA will help you identify what legal strategies may be available. If litigation is advantageous or required, CLA can help develop a litigation strategy based on your goals and objectives. CLA volunteer attorneys can write and file legal documents with the court as required and represent you at hearings or trial.
