Ava Piatt
Ava is a rising senior at the University of Maryland, studying Environmental Science and Policy, with a concentration in politics and policy. She hopes to graduate undergrad and go to law school to become an environmental lawyer. At school, she is heavily involved in Maryland’s intercollegiate Mock Trial team, placing 7th in the country. She also works on-campus at the Student Legal Aid Office, offering free legal services and representation to students in need. Prior to working with CLA, Ava has interned with the DOJ in the Environment and Natural Resources Division, Environmental Crimes Section, where she worked on projects with attorneys who were prosecuting wildlife trafficking, dog fighting, vessel pollution, and air pollution cases. She is excited to learn about how CLA advocates for watershed protection in the Chesapeake Bay. Ava hopes to contribute to CLA’s mission of community-led advocacy, and communicate the incredible work of the organization to the public.
Ava lives in the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC, and in her free time, she loves to run half marathons with her friends, cook, bake, listen to podcasts, and go to concerts!
