Marcus is joining the CLA team as a Fall 2022 Law Clerk. He is a JD-MPH dual degree candidate currently in his second year at the University of Maryland Carey School of Law, where he is focusing on health and environmental law. He is also pursuing his Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Marcus earned his B.A. in Urban Studies and Africana Studies with a minor in Legal Studies from the University of Pittsburgh.
Marcus is passionate about Environmental Justice and has previously worked with Dr. Sacoby Wilson at the University of Maryland-College Park on several projects, including two publications. He is also interested in the legal and environmental intersection of multi-jurisdictional ecosystems such as the Chesapeake Bay. Marcus has previously conducted substantial research in public health and public health law, worked with a community-based environmental non-profit in Northern New Jersey, and has recent experience working on Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act issues as a Summer Legal Intern with Region 5 of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Marcus is a member of the Maryland Environmental Law Society, Student Health Law Organization, Black Law Student Association, and is Co-Chair of the Public Health Student Association.
