What Happens on the Land Happens to the Water: An Interactive Map Exploring Pollution Associated with Land Use Change
This interactive map allows users to see how various land use changes in one particular Maryland county have caused changes in water pollution. When a natural land cover type such as forests or wetlands are destroyed for development that generates polluted runoff year after year. On the other hand, efforts to restore wetlands, reforest natural areas, or plant stream buffers with new trees can actually reduce water pollution.
