City of Annapolis
Annapolis, MD The Chesapeake Legal Alliance (CLA) announced today that its Executive Director, Jackie Guild, is resigning to take a position as Director of the Office of Environmental Policy of the City of Annapolis. In making this announcement, Russ Stevenson, President and Chairman of CLA said, “Jackie was the first Executive Director of the Chesapeake Legal Alliance, and she has been with us since early 2011. Her talent, energy, and creativity have been indispensable to the significant role we continue to play in restoring the health of the Chesapeake Bay. We are going to miss her; but she is leaving behind a strong, stable organization with a great staff and an active and growing program. We look forward to working with her as she takes on a new challenge.”
“It has been a honor to serve the Bay community and work with such talented staff, an incredibly supportive Board of Directors, and CLA’s impressive volunteer attorney network,” said Guild. “I am looking forward to joining the Mayor’s team and tackling the environmental challenges facing Annapolis in partnership with the communities and non-profit organizations with which I have built relationships over the past 7 ½ years.”
Guild will stay on at CLA until mid-May to assure a smooth transition. CLA will begin a search for her successor immediately. Eliza Smith Steinmeier, a member of the CLA Board and former Baltimore Harbor Waterkeeper, has agreed to act as interim executive director until a permanent replacement for Guild can join CLA. Says Steinmeier, “I’m looking forward to working with the staff and the board to ensure that CLA continues to provide its fantastic services to its partners throughout the Bay watershed.”
