Parkside Preserve (Reserve at Quiet Waters)

Client: Annapolis Neck Peninsula Federation
Location: 760 Annapolis Neck Road, Annapolis, MD 21403
Date(s): 2012 to ongoing
Attorney(s): George Mahaffey (Goodell Devries), Tom Deming
Services: Litigation
Issues: Septic and Sewer Systems Energy + Climate Change Municipal and Industrial Waste Water

For the past five years, a total of seven (7) CLA volunteer attorneys assisted the Annapolis Neck Peninsula Federation (ANPF) to ensure that the proposed Parkside Preserve development in Annapolis would not move forward in violation of state and local laws. As a result, the City of Annapolis is planning to purchase 4.4 acres of forest next to Quiet Waters Park and permanently protect the land, which will be open to the public. In addition, CLA attorneys and ANPF have highlighted the importance of the Forest Conservation Act for the City, resulting in recent amendments to the Annapolis City ordinance implementing the FCA. Parkside Preserve will now be developed in accordance with state and local laws, and this action has reduced the impact of the development.
